Be Inspired - International Women's Day

First celebrated as early as 1909 and made a mainstream global holiday by the UN in 1977, March 8th is International Women’s Day. A day often used to celebrate the achievements of women in history, this collection aims to similarly celebrate the work of talented female artists, both those who saw recognition in their lifetime and those who didn’t. Our collection celebrates the talented female artists who managed to create some of the most iconic and recognisable works, despite frequently not having the platforms and support that many of their male contemporaries had.

Featuring works by Modernists, Impressionists, Dadaists, and Pre-Raphaelites, artists who were mothers, mystics, Suffragettes, dancers, and pacifists, and so much more, this collection truly shows the vast and varied talent of only a few female artists throughout time. With illustrations, photographs, watercolours, oils, representations of the self and the world around them, and socio-political messages across shifting socio-political landscapes, we only begin to scratch the surface of what the talented female artists of past, present, and future have to offer.
