Originally from County Durham in the North-East of England, David McConochie is an award winning artist and illustrator, trained at Central Saint Martins gaining an MA in illustration. His work explores the subject of landscape and memory using a variety of mediums, including drawing, painting and digital techniques.

David McConochie has produced a body of work that echoes elements of early cubism and captures both the chaos and control of the landscape. His approach to art is intuitive and expressionistic, playing with textures and collage he creates, dissects and reassembles his work. A tone of ambiguity runs throughout. He has been awarded the Moira Gemmill Illustrator of the Year Prize, V&A Illustration Awards 2016 - Book Cover Design and House of Illustration/Folio Society 2015 Book Illustration Competition.
