"This is our own ‘private view’ and it is not open to the public.  It is a perfect scene, although we have not been invited.  This is a mischievous glance through a keyhole, observing a close and personal moment. Asking for permission to look would have taken away the magic.  We are looking and we shouldn’t!" - Deborah Azzopardi

Playful and provocative, the work of Deborah Azzopardi is a thrill for the senses. Moments of impulse, closeness and fun are explored in her distinctive style. With vibrant palettes and graphic lines, Azzopardi brings a feminine touch to the pop-art genre. Working primarily in acrylics on board or canvas, her paintings are a testament to living life in full colour.

She breaks down her subject matter into moments we have all experienced, capturing them forever in paint. The drama of relationships, seductions, fantasies and worries are explored with a sense of honesty and imagination.

Azzopardi is determined to enjoy life to the fullest and express herself creatively. Her sense of humour and mischief influence her practice, inspiring her to paint the subjects that make her happy. Based in London, her career has spanned over thirty-five years. Her debut book 'Sshh...' showcases over 100 artworks; colourful compositions which celebrate the everyday (and the night!).

Velvet Merlot
"‘Velvet Merlot’ is a luxurious image. The gold conveys a concentrated richness yet the figure is the centre of attention. The red drape hangs naturally on her shape and is effective - making her movement graceful.  Red is often associated as an extroverted and optimistic colour, radiating energy."
Edition 50.

Velvet Azzure
"‘Velvet Azure’ is an elegant image. The azure blue drape is provocatively wrapped around the body and hangs naturally on her shape, suggesting a graceful movement.  Azure is often described as the bright blue colour in a cloudless sky. The image offers individual interpretation, letting the viewer read as much or as little as they like into the work."
Edition 50.

Smooth Operator
"She performs with elegance and grace. With confidence and a persuasive manner, she seduces the onlooker. She could be genuine or just playing as she creates her own charisma. Late Again?
"Is he taking them off or putting them on? Getting undressed or dressed?  Where has he been or where is he is going - perhaps he is somewhere he shouldn’t be? A man of secrets, he allows you to make your own interpretations.  Or is he just simply ... ‘late again?’"
