From Blue Willow to Flow Blue, from onion to Nordic-style, Delftware to Jaipur’s blue pottery, classic blue and white bone china has a long and rich history, being created and sought after since the fourteenth century. In the age of transferware and mass-production blue patterned porcelain only became more popular. In the 1850s and 60s in Britain there was even a ‘Chinamania’, brought about by the Aestheticism movement and the idea of ‘art for art’s sake’; in fact many homes featured sideboards and cabinets bought specifically for displaying blue and white ceramics and Whistler had over 300 items when he died.

Regularly resurging into popularity across the globe for centuries, these pretty porcelain prints are not just eye catching but enduring. Often featuring fusions of countries influence, for example French Faience featuring Indian chintz inspired chinoiserie, patterned porcelain is rich in history, interest and intrigue but it is nonetheless timeless, classic, and iconic and perfect for contemporary design. Although it is a bright blue it is both balanced and bold, and able to inject colour and fit in seamlessly to any style or palette.

Patterned porcelain is more than just a decorative accessory but a piece of art in itself and perfect for these pretty prints!
