Artist in Focus - Thomas Alden

Having painted for decades, Thomas Alden’s creativity extends into his passion for poetry and sculpture. Alden’s upbringing in Texas is reflected in his rural abstracts, Impressionistic paintings of rippling hills and verdant vales, fresh fields of green and barren brown landscapes. These placid landscapes dominated by clouds have a sense of quiet remoteness, full of space and peace, open air and miles of sky. 

Full of free and expressive colour-blocking, Alden’s provincial prints are reminiscent of watching the countryside whizz by through car windows or ceremoniously admiring the awe-inspiring views after clambering up a hill.  His bucolic paintings are mysterious and contemplative, full of calming countrysides and serene scenery, peaceful pastures and rural harmony.
