Artist in Focus - Tim Southall
This series by Tim Southall explores landscapes filtered through memory, emotion, and light. Loosely painted in oil on canvas and rich in atmosphere, these works evoke sultry heat and vibrant sunsets, captured in a colour palette of predominantly golds, crimsons, and deep blues.
Born in Staffordshire, Southall studied Fine Art at Northumbria University and printmaking at the Royal College of Art and l’École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. After two decades teaching and exhibiting in London, he now works full-time as an artist dividing his time between the UK and southern Europe.
An elected member of the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers, Southall is best known for his narrative etchings and silkscreen prints. These paintings mark a more instinctive, expressive shift in his practice which is more atmospheric. You are invited to look beyond the superficial and find personal resonance in the layers of tone, form, and memories.
